Writer’s Wednesday: Room by Emma Donoghue

Room_coverImagine living all your life in one tiny room.

Such is the life of one small boy, the five-year-old Jack, and it is through his eyes that the story of Room by Emma Donoghue unfolds. It is a story of great imagination, intelligence, and a glimpse of a world so different, yet so similar to our own. A tale of bravery and courage, as well as a longing for familiarity and the well-known.

A word of warning; although the book doesn’t go into any details, it is inspired by the story of the also five-year-old boy Felix, in the Fritzl case. I figured this out within the first couple of pages of the book, but I would’ve really appreciated knowing it in advance.

Room is very interesting and inspirational and I greatly recommend it.
