Writer’s Wednesday: How to Fall In Love by Cecelia Ahern
TW for suicide, and discussions around suicide.
In my head I always finish the title of this chick lit novel by Cecelia Ahern as How to Fall in Love (With Life). Cause that’s really what it boils down to.
Cecelia Ahern is one of my favourite chick lit writers, because she’s continously able to turn what could be “just another chick lit” into a story with much deeper meaning. She did it with The Time of My Life, If You Could See Me Now and There’s No Place Like Here, and she’s done it again with How to Fall in Love.
It is the story of Christine and Adam, and how life throws them together one night, just as Adam is about to jump from a bridge. Christine manages to get Adam to make a deal – she has two weeks to show him that his life is worth living.
To be honest the idea of the story seemed a bit… contrived to me, but because I have enjoyed Ahern’s other books I decided to give it a go, cause it was so worth it. Beautiful, sweet and full of meaning. If you don’t mind chick lit I highly recommend it.
As always I invite you to find me and connect with me on Goodreads.
